Brazilian Freestyle Jiu-Jitsu Hawaii Black Belt instructor Ermin Fergerstrom has trained under Brazilian Freestyle founder and Rickson Gracie Black Belt Professor Romolo Barros for over 15 years. Fergerstrom and Barros have produced numerous BJJ Champions throughout the Hawaiian Islands and offer the same world class jiu-jitsu training to all of their students. Prior to training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Coach Ermin accumulated nearly 20 years of traditional training in Hawaiian Kempo Karate as well as Judo and Aikido.

Leandro is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Professor Romolo Barros. He has been in Hawaii for 6 years and previously trained Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil for 7 years under Fernando Lopes and Godoi Team Macaco. Leandro also holds a purple belt in Judo, blue rope in Capoeira and has experience in the disciplines of Boxing, Karate and Kung Fu. Outside of his Martial Arts training, Leandro enjoys weightlifting, surfing and spear fishing.

Lisa has been training jiu-jitsu for 12 years and is currently a Brown Belt under Ermin Fergerstrom. Lisa began training in San Francisco at Ralph Gracie’s Academy and briefly trained under John Machado in Los Angeles before relocating to Maui and joining Brazilian Freestyle Jiu-Jitsu in 2003.

 Lisa is a professional Real Estate Broker with Green Realty Group, is the MMA journalist for MauiNow.com, MC's and commentates for MMA events and hosts MMA Maui, a local Mixed Martial Arts TV show.

Angel Fergerstrom started training in Tae Kwon Do at 5 years old and Jiu-Jitsu at 6. She was immediately recognized by her instructors as a stand out student. As an assistant instructor for the kids jiu-jitsu class, Angel passes on the proper disciplines she has learned, encourages students to set their goals high and to continually improve. When not training, Angel attends King Kekaulike High School, enjoys Drama and Media and is paving the way for Shuffling Dancers in Hawaii.

Shane Hoyt has studied Muay Thai in many different gyms and with multiple trainers all over Thailand including South Thailand and Bangkok champion fighters. He has coached and fought in Thailand for 2 years. He currently holds a 9-0 record (8 Pro Muay Thai & 1 Amateur MMA) finishing all 9 fights with KO’s. Shane also previously coached a Maui Muay Thai team, Nak Su Muay Thai for 2 years. Shane would like to continue passing his knowledge to his fellow students with a traditional psychology of what Muay Thai really is and positively changing the students who walk through the door.

Ruby Amarsharan Kaur Wong

 Ruby Amarsharan Kaur Wong has expressed her creativity and established professional status in both the beauty and yoga professions for more than 25 years.  Ruby introduced the Maui community to Kundalini yoga as founder and director of Beyond Heaven Kundalini Yoga Center and Spa in 2001.

 She is a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor with K.R.I. International Kundalini Yoga Teacher’s Training Association, (IKYTA) as well as a certified Yin Yoga instructor. She received her Yin Yoga Teacher’s certificate with instructor Bernie Clark at the Prana Yoga College in Vancouver, Canada. Ruby is also Reiki certified, certified with the Silver & Fit program and is a licensed cosmetologist.

 Ruby has developed programs for numerous clients in the public sector such as the Maui Department of Veteran’s Affairs, American Cancer Association, American Lung Society’s Breathe Easy program, Maui Golf and Country Club, Maui Child and Family Services for issues related to eating disorders, anger management and for disabled athletes. She has been featured on local television programs as well as in numerous health-industry publications.

 A deep commitment to her unique vision and life’s work has given Ruby boundless energy, endless client praise and remarkable life experiences. She is committed to Continuing Education as a means not an end to developing and taking responsibility for one’s own spiritual and professional growth and encourages others to do the same. Ruby combines her love for the healing art of Reiki and uses a yogic lens of awareness, consciousness, and proper breathing techniques to bring to her students an intimate, commending understanding and acceptance of their physical, mental and emotional bodies. Ruby’s daring, playful, and highly original Yoga classes are designed to break-down and rebuild for each of her students, the habitual nuts and bolts of human movement beyond the mind.
